The village of Canillas de Aceituno is in a privileged situation, on the edge of the Sierra de Tejeda Natural Park and its imposing mountains. This location gives it extensive views of the coast, the mountains and the Viñuela lake, and its hiking trails are among the most recognized in the area. The village itself is very pleasant for a walk, thanks to the narrow and cool streets with white-washed houses, which the inhabitants have decorated with flowers. Canillas de Aceituno was created in Roman times and has had quite a lively history ever since. There are many small, quiet hamlets around the village itself, and for caving enthusiasts, there are numerous caves.
